For as long as I can remember, knitting has been my “work”, my “art”, my “love”.
Designer fashion trends have always inspired me to design knit garments and accessories for my wardrobe. Freelance knitting contracts led me to a degree in Clothing & Textiles, expanding my knowledge of design, fibers, yarns, and the variety of textile fabrications. I am a self-taught pattern writer, and I get a real buzz from helping others. I work mainly with natural fibers, for the way they feel in my hands, their quality, and longevity over synthetics. Like an expensive pair of Italian leather shoes, or an exquisitely sewn MaxMara coat, an item skillfully knit in the best yarn will survive the test of time. For me, professionally finished projects are an absolute must.
Other things I love besides knitting – Incessant reading. Cooking and healthy eating. Art history. The art of Matisse, Picasso, and Jackson Pollock. Textile art. Fresh cut flowers. My Mac and ipad. Beads, lace, and woven paisley. Meeting friends in cafés. Clothing from the 1920s and 1950s.
